Verb Conjugation

Latin Boot Camp has introduced the idea of verbs and their conjugations. Let's take a detour to get familiar with this -- it might be easier than the nouns because in English, we actually do conjugate verbs, though not in so much detail as Latin does.

Verbs vary in several ways -- two ways you are familiar with are Person and Number. There are three persons -- First, Second and Third; and two numbers: Singular and Plural.

Another variation is Tense. Right now we are dealing with Present Tense. Present means happening in the present moment.

Here are the verbs -- study, then go on to next section

First Conjugation

Person Singular Meaning Plural Meaning
1st amō I love amāmus We love
2nd amās You love amātis You (pl.) love
3rd amat He/she/it loves amant They love

Second Conjugation

Person Singular Meaning Plural Meaning
1st moneō I warn monēmus We warn
2nd monēs You warn monētis You (pl.) warn
3rd monet He/she/it warns monent They warn
