Read the Introduction to the Student, pages 1-2.
Robert J Henle, SJ was a Catholic priest (SJ means Society of Jesus, commonly known as the Jesuit order). A particular focus of the Jesuits was to teach high school. They believed in careful, systematic teaching, with lots of review so that the student really mastered the material. A lot of their principles have become basics of good teaching. You can see this emphasis in the introduction.
Read the Unit One Introduction, pages 3-5.
